I had an article published in Neos Kosmos English Weekly yesterday, after I was asked to pitch in by their sports editor James Belias who's off holidaying somewhere. It's basically a collection of cobbled up rumours, innuendo and rehashed news from the 2009 pre-season with particular reference to the, ahem, Greek clubs, whatever the fuck that means these days.
But there was one part that hasn't been widely or publically reported yet, and that was the interesting move of former board member and football operations dude Jim Marinis across to the Melbourne Knights to play out a similar role. Which is a shame really, not necessarily for what we've lost or gained in his moving on from our club - as that all depends on who you listen to and some people are quite biased in their opinions - but moreso for the fact that he's now working against the club he allgedly loves or once loved.

A few notes on comments.
We've had a lot of fun over the years with my freewheeling comments policy, but all good things must come to an end. Therefore I will no longer be approving comments that contain personal abuse of any sort.
Still, if your post doesn't get approved straight away, it's probably because I haven't seen it yet.
As usual, publication of a comment does not mean endorsement of its content.

Jim has gone to a place where he's getting the respect he deserves. And he's not "working against" South... he's working FOR someone else. There is a difference.
ReplyDeleteSM pretty much told him to fck off, and so he went where he was wanted.
He was approached by 4 clubs AND the football federation, and he chose the Knights because of existing relationships with some of the people involved there.
Being one of those aforementioned biased people, I still honestly believe that SM - or should I say certain people at SM - have majorly fcked up by treating Jim like sh!t, and I will personally hold them accountable for what we've lost - ESPECIALLY since those people do not bring any value to our organisation themselves.
Ah well. It'll hurt me to see Jim wearing a Knights logo, but he's happy and that's the main thing. I am and always will be proud to call him a friend, so it's not my loss.
There are 12 teams in the VPL, which all compete for the same prize. Therefore, if he is not working for us, and he is working for someone else, for the exact same purpose, then yes, he is working against us.
ReplyDeleteDid someone say bacon bits
ReplyDeleteGoldenGreek you don't put much value in your friends now do you??!!
ReplyDeleteJudging by the whispers aroung BJS, he was probably your only one!!

Actually Paul, if the twat is not with us, that's gotta be a plus!
Remember Western Suburbs away???
What could've been!!
Jim Marinis has a lot of talent but unfortunatley a lot more ego - a board represents the team - Both the team off the park and the team on it - not the individuals in it - Jim Marinins was more interested in the spot light.
