About South of the Border
This blog deals with the on and off field happenings of the soccer club South Melbourne FC (née Hellas), and occasionally with issues beyond that. I no longer accept responsibility for those who are not amused or informed by these efforts. This blog is 100% not affiliated with the club in any official capacity. I have no official role at South Melbourne. The opinions expressed here are solely those of its contributors. Let it also be understood that the opinions expressed are not necessarily the opinions of the broader South Melbourne FC community, and should not be construed as such unless otherwise indicated.

Rationale
This blog was started in late 2007, after a failed takeover of the then dormant and now extinct South Melbourne blog, Park Life. I started this blog as a means of writing in the public sphere (an adjunct to my professional writing course), to create a space for myself away from traditional internet forums, and to establish a public space that was independent of both the official South Melbourne media juggernaut and the closed off smfcboard; a place where South fans could read and provide independent views on all the club's happenings. That, and I felt there was a need to provide at least one South person's point of view into the public domain.

There are two main facets of this work that I enjoy; what I perceive to be the slow but steady improvements in my writing; and meeting some of my readership around the grounds. While I don't really care if anyone reads it, the fact that some people find it interesting and useful makes it far more worthwhile.

Contact Us
South of the Border, as a sort of anarcho-democratic enterprise, encourages criticism, praise, corrections and offers of assistance from all sources. Coherent, measured and reasonable items are the most sought after, but then again, I've fallen short of those lofty standards numerous times.

Of course, you can leave comments in the relevant spaces. But if you would like to go one step further and contribute photos, articles, comics, artwork and whatever else you can think of, contact me and I'll try my best to accommodate you. It doesn't have to be on a continuing basis, but that would also be ace. It doesn't even have to be from South fans, though if it has something to do with South, I'm obviously far more likely to use it.

The best way to contact me is via email, since I use it frequently - and after all, this is an internet based medium. To that end, send your emails to blackmissionary@hotmail.com, and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.
